The Austrian painter, graphic artist and sculptor Gottfried Kumpf was born son to a country doctor in Annaberg in the Lammertal in 1930. He has lived in Burgenland since 1968. In 2005, he received the Austrian honorary medal for science and art first class (Österreichisches Ehrenkreuz für Wissenschaft und Kunst I. Klasse). The main theme of his art work are landscapes that he usually depicts in a naive style. The trademark of his pictures is the "anti-social", who is usually hidden in some corner of the picture.
